Who we are
Scottish Universities Press (SUP) is coordinated through the Scottish Confederation of University and Research Libraries (SCURL) and managed by 20 academic libraries across Scotland and Northern Ireland. SCURL is a membership body that has been supporting collaborative initiatives across Scotland’s academic libraries for over 30 years.
The strategic direction of the Press is led by a Management Board with a representative from each member library. Our inclusive governance approach has been strengthened by the successful transition to the Community Interest Company (CIC) structure, according all 20 members equal status in the running of Press and ensuring that SUP will always remain not-for-profit and able to serve the needs of our academic community.
The day-to-day operations are managed by: SCURL Executive Officer, Gillian Daly, who also acts as Press Manager; SUP Publishing Officer, Dominique Walker; and Paul Clarke, SUP’s Freelance Commissioning Editor. An Editorial Board consisting of 14 researchers from across member institutions manage the peer review process and make all editorial decisions on our content.
We are also grateful for the many in-kind contributions we receive from staff at our member institutions, through practical working groups, metadata provision and our peer review network of researchers.
